Question please help is my car dying?

It started on Monday the car seemed to idle a little bad like it wanted to choke out thought it was just due to the 100 degree heat out. Everyday after that it would get a little worse then yesterday it wouldn't keep an idle keeps stalling but it fires right back up. Now it only does this once it reaches operating temp. The whole time it has been in the high 90's low 100's here with humidity from hell. Here is what I have tried so far adjusting the bac idle screw but no change in rpm at idle. Now what could it be? Before I go and rip the car apart or set it on fire where should I start? Could this heat wave be doing it? other than the idle the car runs great. I will check the timing today and readjust the tps again the last time I did that was in spring and I read that it can need seasonal adjustments.

Thank you in advance for you help.

Well checked the timing as best as I could and it is pretty much dead on I see no obvious vacuum leaks all plug wires are connected tps is adjusted near perfect. What else should I look for? Please Please help. I need this car up and running by Sunday night so I can go to work. Could it be a bad spark plug? fuel pump (I have a walbro in it now) fuel filter ( brand new so highly unlikely) Bad gas, afm????? It even idles funny when warming up now. Here is what has been done.

91 TII
racing beat turbo back exhaust
racing beat fcd
bonez intake
S-AFC

Well first off, when is the last time you changed your plugs, wires, filters, oil, etc? Next, intake leaks don't have to be obvious. If you haven't done maintence in a while do that first. Check for intake leaks, do you still have your TID? If so it could have cracks that you can't see until you take it off and maybe not even then. And I would run some good fuel system cleaner as well.

I changed the plugs about three months ago, oil 2600 miles ago, wires the same time as the plugs, cleaned the filter about 1 1/2 months ago.

What is TID? I took off the intercooler to look under neath and there was no cracks or splits in any of the intake hoses. now would a vacuum line cause this under neath some where? So the bac is out of the question? It will idle but real rough if I increase the duty cycle of the injectors at 1000 rpm on my S-AFC. Took it for a ride and it will stumble when I first gun it but only slight. Can't check the plugs now it is pouring out and alas I have no garage. I guess it could be a blown seal ( pray to god that it is not ). Thanks for pointing me in some direction. Also could it be a poor ground some where?

TID=turbo inlet duct This is the tube that goes from the afm to the turbo. It is black with those "flexible bends" like a straw kinda. They are prone to crack. Search "TID mod" here and at www.teamfc3s.org/forum

Uh oh...

Okay, I am praying for you that this is NOT the issue, but the first thing that comes to my mind is bad compression. If you're stepping on that pedal, and the car is stumbling, etc., that's just what goes to the front of my brain. Maybe it's because I'm use to that run of luck at the moment. Ryde or Die is a pretty smart guy though.... Listen to him! He got my car running in 15 minutes when the dealership... well... long story!

Good luck and God Bless!

Arrow Oh yeah

I forgot... I'd check around at your nearest Rotary Performance shop and see how much a compression test would be. At least that way you will also know where you stand with the engine. Just an opinion!

if you said it's performing well to redline, then i really don't think you've blown any seals ... if one seal goes, then you should count your lucky stars if you can make it to 5500 RPM under load, much less if more than one seal goes!

do you get any puffs of smoke when you step on the gas hard? i'm thinking you might be running too rich at idle (maybe your pressure regulator is going bad or something) ...

anyway keep us posted.

no smoke nothing can go to 7 grand no problem making 12 psi all the way just won't idle it started raining so will have to put off trouble shooting till it stops plus the apartment complex gets pissy when you work on your car

well I just put in some new plugs, no change I inspected the hose from the atm to the turbo and it has no cracks or anything. inspected plug wires teh are fine. The plugs I took out had a little bit of carbon deposits on them but other than that the looked almost brand new. what should I check now?

well the only other thing i can think of, if you're sure that you're not too rich, is that there is a small vacuum leak ... SOMEWHERE! the trick is going to be finding it!

try testing it with carburetor cleaner ...

well here is what I did today. I took off the filter, afm bac, intake hoses, intercooler hoses and all are in good shape. Put them back on adjusted the throttle cable and cruise control cable and noticed the nut on the one side was lose and that the butterflies have moved so I put them back in place and tightned down said nut and bam it idles now but after I put them in postion perfect and started car and blipped the throttle a couple of time the damn things move on me no matter how tight I make that nut. So what is up something broke in there? I think I will remove the whole throttle body and take it apart and see what the deal is and while I am at do all the nessary mods. Any suggetions or warnings before I start? Thanks for the help.

Sometimes I think of selling it but that thought quickly goes away when I fire it up. Anyway today is the day I will let you know how it goes.

Angry NOW WHAT???

well I got the blades to stay in one spot and the tps is adjusted according to the green and red lights. Now it idles like it is hunting for something also if I floor it and let off the gas real quick or push in the clutch under load it will backfire real bad so what do I need to adjust now I noticed on my S-AFC the the tps voltage is off a little but the lights say it is perfect. Thanks for the help.

the back fire is accompanied by the check engine light coming on but it goes away as soon as you push the gas. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.
