Well?

I got the stock exhaust off. . I could not see up in there to see the wastegate, so i had the brilliant idea to stick my camera up there and snap shots. Look at this ****! Looks fine?? WTF!

People are hitting and missing here.... Make sure the w/g actuator has a bit of tension closing the flapper.

Is there a possibility that your airflow meter is stuck closed causing the turbo to gag? Whats your safc read? Do you have any soft rubber intake hoses on the low pressure side, before the turbo? Those can collapse if ruber pipe too long.

An OK way to check for large vaccum leaks is to use a can of dust remover (compressed air) USe the can cause it takes a while to even hit 1psi. Make sure your system can hold some pressure! (You gotta block the intake somehow, and you may naturally lose pressure through the engine's apez and side seals).

Someone correct me if im wrong, isnt that white stuff just a little too white??? Check your timing/knock sensor. Maybe your timing is retarding from a bad knock. It looks really really rich in the exhaust manifold stuff me thinks.

If youve got an egt, whats your reading?

if youve got 1000cc secondaries thats twice as large as stock. Try turning your safc down 50% and go easy!

Those pictures all look just fine. I'll really be interested to hear how it does with the new exhaust!

OMFG! I got Boost!
I hooked up just the DP & Pre Silencer, Fire it up .. Ohh god was it loud .. I'm sure my neighbors want to shoot me. But I said *** it. I went about a half a mile down the street and hit the gas about halfway in second, and instantly the boost guage SHOT up!! I almost **** myself right in my leather seats. I was sooo pummped up. I was WAY to loud though so I pulled it in the garage and shut it down. Tommor I will get the rest of the system installed, and tonight I will Finally sleep!!

Thank you very much fellas for all your help and advice. I sure hope this post helps someone in the future.

I'm not sure who all thought exhaust system (I know Dale did) but I must say cause it passed smog with this system I was sceptical that it would help, so that made it even more exciting when it worked and I truely didn't expect it to.

God bless the RX-7!!

BIG congrats! Boy do I feel good knowing the right answer!

You'll have to let us know how the car does when you get the cat-back section on the car.

Well, when i began to think about it.. i thought it might not be that badly of a clogged CAT. The motor has a large streetport (needs more flow) A upgarged & ported Turbo with a bigger compressor wheel (needs more flow) 720cc primary injectors- 1000cc secondaries (needs more flow) and a 15 degree clip on the turbine wheel (needs more flow) so i think the combo of all that and the stock tiny *** exhaust with a bit of a clog in the system & the stock precat installed... it just could not breathe.

Thats my thoughts on it. Cause guy in the smog shop in front of me failed smog cause he had a clogged CAt on a older dodge dakota, they had to put a whole new Cat on his truck to pas him.

When I bought my TII it smogged w/ awsome numbers, but the pre-cat was clogged up and I could only get 2 psi of boost on stock everything. We have sevaral cats and the ones that clog are the closest to the engine and are for start up emmisions- the main cat does the work once it is warmed up. Could be the precat.

Sounds like you might want more flow than the 2.5 Racing Beat sytem :-)

Well I have a 3 Inch RB downpipe & a 3 Inch RB Presilencer, I had planned all along to finish the RB system with the rest of the 3 Inch Cat back ... but I called them yesterday and they said the new Cans won't be done untill the end of November, I asked "why?" they told me that the Miata Cans are there first priority once they are done they will proceed with the FC stuff. I was kinda bitter.. but I said fug it. I called them months ago and they said they would be ready by October for sure... I'm bitter about the whole thing.

So I had to make a drastic change in plans today, I am having a Apexi Dual N1 CatBack overnited to me. It's a bit more costly .. but they have been telling me over and over the rest of the RB system will be ready by the time I need it, turns out it wont.

Jesus! what is this world comming to? I think your right. I just went out and measured it, then I look and there is a little "406" engraved on the outside of it. I went to RB's web page and the 2.5 is listed as; 16406 where the 3 IN. is ... 16425P. God Damn, I payed for a 3 IN, i guess I should look closer next time, Im glad you spotted this.

That must be why the damn thing would not bolt up to my DP last nite... I thought I was just getting tired, I figured I will test run with just the DP and worry about the Pre later.

Another Fug up it looks like.

Thx again for spotting this, I can atleast get this taken are of asap.

Ah ha. So the downpipe IS 3". Good, I hadn't seen a 3" w/ the new ceramic coating- so I mistook it for the 2.5" that would match that 2.5" presilencer. The DP does look pretty big compared to the presilencer now that I look at it :-).

I bet it boosted awsome w/ just the 3" downpipe on it! I look forward to hearing the results (dyno) of your new set-up when it is all tuned and such. Good luck, Ian.
