Arrow please help

im planing on doing a t2 swap. ive been told that you have to match s4's with s4 parts and s5 with s5 parts because some parts dont match up right. is that correct or have i heard wrong? im asking because i have a s4 and i found an t2 engine, tranny ecu, and wiring harness for $1300. but it came out of a 90 rx7. can i use it.

Just changing out the basic engine is not big deal.

The electrical can be a big deal if you try to use series four harnesses with series five harnesses.

HARNESSES DEFINITION: I'm not talking about JUST that harness that connects to the engine, which is the EMISSIONS HARNESS. I'm talking also about the FRONT harness which the EMISSIONS harness plugs into. The wires and the plugs do not match b/t the series four and series five.

A series five ECU will not plug to a series four harness. And vice versa. It's only doable if your very familiar with the wiring diagrams of both series and know and LIKE to splice wires and depin/repin wires.

Back to basics: Just swapping the bare engine and no wiring is not difficult. But even that requires you to swap the front engine cover so you can swap b/t the electrical omp of the series five to the mechanical omp of the series four. Then you have two different types of tps that should be changed out, although I think I could make a series five tps work in a series four by swapping a couple of wires/splicing/etc.

There are/have been people who have used series five emissions harness and ECU on a series four car, but they knew how to read the two different schematics and do electrical repair work. There's a Czech guy who wrote something on it recently. Sorry, forgot the name again.

YOur queston: *****but can i take all the parts from a s5 and put them into a s4?***** the answer is probably yes if you count swapping out the harnesses also. Most all the harnesses that is.
