try and push start it
probably flooded as hell

do not attempt to restab the CAS like that one idiot adviced. You will probably **** it up even more and that is one extra thing to troubleshoot.

Did it run before?

Start with the easy thing...
Is the AFM still good?
Is the gas good?
Are the plugs good?

Last thing you want to do is do something that you have no idea what you are doing.

The CAS does not change itself or decide to jump a tooth all of a sudden. If it wasn't touched, don't touch it.

 

Two ways of turning the engine over by hand: If the spark plugs are in it, it's easier to get a 19mm socket on the main crank pulley and turn it (don't worry, you won't put anywhere near enough pressure to tighten or loosen that bolt!). If the spark plugs are out, it should be easy enough to just grab a belt (Say, by the alternator) and just pull the belt, which will rotate the crank.

 

ok thanks and to slpin yes the gas is good i siphened out the old gas and put new gas in it and the plugs are brand new but i do not know the last time it ran because the previous owner said he never had it running he bought it to get runnin but wrecked his moms car and needed money to pay for the bills so he had to sell it before he had a chance to really work on it. and i will check the afm when i get back from my allergy shots :/ and we will also be towing it behind my friends truck to try and push start it so i hope this works

 

Do not tow it to push start it! When you drop the clutch the car will suddenly slow down, putting tension on tow straps which could pull something off. You really only need to get it moving maybe 5mph. Just get a buddy, you two push it down the road and when it gets going at a good clip, hop in, put the key to on, clutch in, put it in first, and drop the cluch. hopefully it will start. And make sure that when you turn it by hand, you turn it clockwise.

 

ok thanks for the advice texFCturboII the only reason i was gonna try starting it with being pulled by a truck is cus that is what i was told i should do by another person on this forum. ha good thing its been rainin lately or we would have fd some stuff up lol

 

well me and my whole neighborhood got my car running and a big plus for my friends truck but now the rest of the cars problems revealed themselves now i gotta replace the radiator cus its leaking but o well i am so excited now that it runs

 

told ya push starting it is a good idea XD
effortless and it usually works - even if the motor is bad....
thats why i said restabbing the cas is pointless XD

the problems wil just show up... replace the obvious....
get a new thermostat too - from MAZDA....

can any one suggest a good place to find a radiator for this beast and would it be worth getting a performance radiator or just sticking to a stock one

 

Places like MAZDATRIX sell almost stock radiators for not toooo bad a price. Also KOYO are good radiators but cost more. I've two of those items.

 

why do i need to get a new thermostat?

 

Cuz overheating these engines is a sure fire way to kill them. Since the car has been sitting for who knows how long, its a good idea to replace the little simple things like hoses, belts, radiator caps, thermostat. So that if you do have a heat problem, you know its not the little stuff and or you have saved your engine from future failure replacing them.

 

well i got my new radiator today and i was pullin the old one out and as i was being lazy and just tryin to pry the big plastic thing that goes from the radiator to the fan and as i was tryin to pry and flex the plastic thing out i broke about an inch off of one of the fan blades :/ o well no one to get pissed at but myself but my question is is it ok to drive the car with the fan blade like that untill i get a new one? i mean its not that much off the blade so it cant make that big of a difference can it? and also is it necessary to put that giant plastic thing back on by giant plastic thing i mean the big black thing goin from the radiator to the fan? i know these are probably dumb questions but please let me know an the name states i am a NUBE

 

haha i drove my fc wiothought a fan shroud for a while...

It's definitely nice having one.. if you have an aftermarket intake it helps cool it down... because if you don't have the fanshroud on it sucks in more hot air from the engine.

I'd put it back on if i were you..

when it floods again...

pull the egi fuse like said crank for about 6 seconds or 8... and then do that three times...

after that put the fuse back in..

crank it over with no pressur on the throttle when it acts like it wants to start barly push on the gas and get it going like that slow and easy... lots of smoke and pops.. welcome to fc fireballs

 

y thank you for your reply and i will definitely be puttin back on my fanshroud lol and ya she smokes a lot but i dissapates quickly i suppose one thing that kinda scared me is when i first got her started is smoke was blowin through all the air vents into the cab but o well im gonna die eventually this will just make so i dont have to become an old fart

 

another question that i have is would it be a good idea to trim the fanshroud on the bottom part towards bottom of car so that it clears the fan so i can take it off easily for more access to parts? otherwise it is a pain in the butt to try in get off. i am asking all these questions so that my ideas dont end up being costly mistakes.

 

No, keep it as it is. The whole point of the thing is that it directs the pull of the air from the fan, so that the fan is efficiently pulling air through the radiator, not from around the engine bay. Is removing the fan that big of a deal? It's four nuts. Try dropping a transmission....

 

You broke an inch off one of the fan blades. That will destroy the fan clutch assy if the fan is allowed to spin like that for a given length of time. As in ...unbalanced/out of balance.

 

well i broke an inch off of one fan blade and what if i weighed the piece that broke off and found a way to put that weight back on that fan blade or are there any suggestions to a temporary fix for this untill i can get a new one

 

that sounds like alot of useless work to me trying to add the weight back to the fan... if you want to be ghet about it just for now you could gorrilla glue it on there i suppose...

if you didn't live in kansas i would pick you up a fan from the junk yard today since i'm going anywho..

but i think it should be fine withouth that piece for a bit.. not too long though make sure you get a fan soon!

 

well actually it was really easy adding the weight back on i just used a scientific scale weighed the piece that broke off then found a bolt and set of nuts and washers that weighed the same amount and put a small hole in the fin that the piece broke off and put it on there making sure it was even amount of nuts and washers on both sides i figured it would be at least a little stronger than gorilla glue

 

ok well after driving my car a couple times i pulled the plugs and they were pure black i know this isnt good but what are some of the things that can cause this and btw these are brand new plugs i just put in before i got it runnin
