Please Educate an Electronic Flunkie
I'll admit it, I'm virtually useless when it comes to electronics.
I've made an ECU test connector like the one in the archives (see https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=17731), and I can wire it in no problem, but after that, I'm kind of lost (note: the connector listed in the archives has 21 wires, but I added a few more I wanted to keep an eye on)
I have a multimeter, so how will I test the voltages that are listed in the FSM (which I have) for all the different ECU outputs and inputs?
Please give step-by-step starting from after I've wired in the connector...
Hopefully this will help more than just me, I know there have to be more electronics dummies out there.

There a few ecu pins that are labelled ground. Put black multimeter lead into a known ground nearby (somewhere near the ecu) and the red lead into all the ground pins (in turn),
it should read 0V.
BTW, you should select 20V or more dc for the multimeter, but you probably know that.
After that, u put black lead into one of the ground ecu pin, and you put the red lead into the ecu pins that are of interest. The voltage you read is the 1 to compare with the 1 on fsm.

OK, that's kind of what I was thinking.
So, if terminals 3A-3D of the ECU are grounds, can I splice into them, and run more wires into my connector (should I just pick one ground for my homemade connector)? That way, I only have to deal with putting the leads into two pins of the homemade connector.
