changing the sparkplugs?
my 88 rx7 gxl won't start, it just turns and turns and doesn't catch and someone suggested changing the sparkplugs. this happened last year once and the mechanic said the apex seals are wearing down and the engine just flooded out and there ended up being a lot of gas in with the oil and that's why it wouldn't start. he said he changed the spark plugs but that they weren't all that bad. can anyone help me with this? my car is sitting and i'll need to get it towed and hopefully not have to spend too much money getting it running again. i'm not a huge car expert but i would appreciate any help you can off, thanks.

i dont think changing spark plugs would help. Sounds like your flooded. You might have to remove a plug and turn over the engine to get all the gas out. make sure you disconnect the coil and floor the gas when turing over. Gas wont go in when its floored on a fuel injected car. (when not running, duh!)

Ignore OC_s advice, it's wrong.
Sounds like your car is seriously flooded. There are two things you can try. Do the second if the first doesn't work.
1. Remove EGI fuse from fuse box under hood. Floor accellerator (lets lots of air into the engine) and crank for 10 seconds. The car will not start. Put the EGI fuse back in, floor gas, try to start car. Should start.
2. Remove bottom (leading) spark plugs. Pour an ounce of oil into each hole. Rotate engine by hand a few revolutions. Our another ounce of oil into each hole. Replace plugs, start car.
That should get it going. Avoid the situation by not short-starting the car.
