Maybe both... also sounds like you have glazed the rotor and pads.

Calipers should float, so if it is against the rotor, your pad (and maybe rotor) is no more...

Is the rotor real shinny? betcha the pad is too.

Pull the wheel, pull the caliper and check it out

Your caliper is frozen, get a new one.
4-piston caliper will run you about $80 w/core exchange.
If you don't, in time your wheel will make this horrible grinding noise and your rotor will be shot.

Go to any import parts store.
Around here, we have Spradlin and Smyths.
The dealer will be too expensive, but its worth a phone call.
Most anywhere will give you a core exchange.
The trick is finding a ride over there, since you can't drive your car with the caliper off.

They are really jamed up. I tried to break the pistons free with a heavy *** hammer and whatever i could find around the garage with out any luck. I even used bolt breaker fluid. they wont even budge. If you have any ideas besides what i tried im open for anything. Otherwise i still need to find a pair of 4 piston calipers.
