PINEAPPLE Died
55 degrees? Thermostatic rates start in the 160F's and usually go up into the 190's. You can theoretically run any lower than that. If they're running, say, 180F degree thermostats, then were they running 235F degree water temps to begin with? Something doesn't sound right here.

Here is a video, taken 2 weeks ago when I suspected I had a problem. Its worse now. The vid was taken after the car had been idling ~ 5 minutes. Had to go in the house and retreive the camera

What kind of response is that-"Too Busy" ? Wonder if he was too busy to give his worker proper instructions to pass on to you with problem solving!?!? I don't think he'll ever see my engine with that attitude.
Just got ahold of Rob. He is going to go thru the engine and tranny again. He asked me to perform a couple of quick tests before I pull it out. Will keep everyone posted. He is also concerned about the dyno results I had with this engine. John
Note to self: Continue to do rebuilds myself...

I'm surprised about your bad exp so far with Rob @ Pineapple. I have known two people personally who have had their engines pop (and it was their own fault) that were built by Rob and he honored the warranty no problem. I have been running Evans coolant in my vert and a heavily modified TII a few years ago that Rob built. No issues but I didn't perform any scientific tests either, unless track time qualifies.
Like I said, I haven't had a problem before. I was surprised as hell when Joel told me to add block sealer (which I didn't). Rob has since spoken with me and is going thru the engine and tranny. John. Stay tuned for updates John
I have had no problems with Evans on any of my other equipment that I run it in. See sig: All the diesels. And I will continue to run it in the rotaries. How this thread digressed into a Dexcool debate, I don't know. John

If what somebody said about a Pineapple engine which turned out to have no 3 mm apex seals, even though they had been ordered, is true, then all I can say is, I will stick to the good old Mazdatrix engines and reputation. Reason being: 1. Somebody forgot to install 3 mm seals, which shows poor quality control or 2. Somebody wanted to forget to install 3 mm seals, in which case...no further words.
I agree.
I'm in the market for at least one motor if not two in the next six months. I was considering getting them from mazdatrix or Pineapple.
But I absolutely detest poor customer service when it comes to engine rebuilds. "Too Busy" to talk, but not "too busy" to take your money...I don't play that game.
So just based on the hold time you've had, I don't care if it was your fault for blowing the motor or not.
Pineapple goes off the list.
I spent at least $6000 with mazda trix over the last 2 years. So far they've never failed to treat me right, especially on the phone.

this probably sounds far out, but coolant seals are made from somethign rubber-like, right? Has anyone tried filling their cooling system (just the engine, anyways) with brake fluid and letting it sit for a few days? Obviously you would not want to be running the engine like this.......
my pineapple motor blew up with only 400 miles on it,
and my five year warranty was found to be no good.
2600 dollars well spent.
i have found the best way to deal with them is to just stop by the shop. after a while of them not calling me back i decided to make a trip for portland. and they got back to me fairly quickly (probly because they didn't have to pay for anything) but when the whole ordeal is finished with, i have a 5 year motor in 100 peices and and RX-7 that might as well be a lawn ordiment, i'd get the same satisfaction from it.
