Question Pillow ball mounts/Camber plates

Are there any major differences between brands like JIC, Cusco, HKS, etc.? Is any one of them better than the others? Or are they just the same? I need camber plates for the fronts, and was just wondering...

Nope, generally alike. a couple require massaging to fit i.e. minor cutting to take advantage of their full travel ability. I have a set of Mazdatrix and they're decent. Some plates might be specifically manu'd for their own shocks i.e. Tein only for Tein.

wrong, Tein's will fit anything that replace the stock struts directly (I have Tein camber plates/pillow ball mounts on my KYB's).

Cuco. .really.. wow! I figured they were cheap ones..

The car also came with a ebay special strut bar and some "KYB Super Street" adjustable shocks never seen or heard of them before.. one just blew up on me thou and I got AGXes to replace them.

The Super Streets are silver and have dials in the back AND front while the AGX only have a dial in the back and you need a screwdriver to adj the fronts. They also only adjust to "4" in the back and not 8 like the AGX..

Also had some lowering springs of unknown mfg in there.. I think I am going to ditch them for some Suspension Techniques thou because I don't like the way my car rides. It's really "bouncy" no hard bumps but it feels like riding in a honda with cut coils bouncy..

sweet! I was afraid my new(used) Tein camber plates wouldn't fit my KYB's.

well, that means your springs are probably too stiff for the shocks(I think). try adjusting your shocks all teh way too the stiffest setting, and try it then.
( I could be wrong)

either the spring is too stiff for the shock (unlikely, most springs for the FC in the aftermarket dont vary too much in rate...if its a healthy aftermarket shock it should take it fine). I bet you have either stock springs cut significantly or cut aftermarkets...remember, suspension tech and eibach dont lower the car much...if its slammed its cut

My car is the silver one.. the back one is Rarest's if you can't tell.. not many red GTUs with powdercoated rims.. hehe

It isn't slammed.. Actualy I have been told that I should LOWER my car as it sits too high.. Mazdatrix says the ST springs give a .8 in drop.. that's fine with me.

Even with the shocks maxed it still bounces a lot.. Girls complain that their ***** bounce too much in my car.. I sware to God I get a lot of complaints.. It's not just a "wham" and you are driving again.. it's a "wham" bounce bounce bounce.. the headlight bob up and down..

Anyway the springs don't look cut and I don't think they are stock.. The guy I bought the car from sold me the shocks (told me they were AGX), pillow mounts, springs, 5 lug conversion and strut bar for 800.00 extra.. I think the only thing worth while are the pillow mounts.. the stut bar works but it's one of the $30.00 ebay jobbers... I don't like the springs and one of the shocks just blew soooo..

Anway the reason why I don't think the springs are stock is he had the stock springs and asked me if I wanted them and I said no.. Maybe these are stock as well just in a better condition and the other ones... they were BEAT when I saw them..

When I bought it I was under the impression that all the stuff was new but it was all used.. except the mounts.. that's why when you told me they were Cusco I was in shock.. everything else I got was crap.

The springs are not powdercoated.. they are painted black with rust and all 4 of them have a lot of white paint and overspray on them.. there isn't overspray on the car so they were probably sitting in someone's garage when that happened...

Anyway I'm really not happy with them.. Rarest has the Tokico springs and I have read that the Suspension Technique are almost identical if not made by the same company.. Mazdatrix rates them at about 26% stronger than stock even thou the sale pitch for them says about 15% over stock. Well I like the way his car rides so I think I will try them.. I was also looking at the H&R Springs but I don't know much about them..they are supposed to take me down 1.25 and that seems too low.

Hopefully I will have the springs shipped to me by Tue and I can swap out the suspension.. I will take some pics of the springs and post them so you can see what they look like.
