hiya guys,

got an interesting question. was wondering if anyone knows how to get the piece off that sits around the auto trans shifter. its an 88 btw. the stick wiggles and so does the little plate with the letters (P R N D and such). would like to take it off and maybe tighten up anything down there or glue the little plastic stuff down. maybe i could find a way to get rid of the wiggle in the shifter too.

Not sure how far you got on taking it apart, I haven't done it for a long time, but you just pop up the surround peice, then there are 4 screws that hold the center part in place. Then you remove the top part of the shift lever, I think there was one screw on the front side, facing the radio that you normally don't see. Then you can take it apart more from there.... That is what I remember from the top of my head for now.
