Do I need the radio cage if i use the factory bracket?

Hey guys. do I need to use the radio cage if i use the factory bracket ona metro kit mount? I dont think i do because the screws dont go through the cage, can someone back me up

Try the Interior Froum page next time. I had to. The tuner sagged unless I did.

No, you would not use the Factory bracket if you are using that kit and a aftermarket radio and it's can.

Although IMO the factory mounting and a custom trim ring is 1000% better than any aftermarket kit.

The radio should be back-strapped if you use the aftermarket kit. It will sag and sooner or later crack the dash bezel if you do not. Not using a backstrap is a written warning offense at many install shops.

I dont have the tools or the time to make a custom trim ring. I think using the kit works well. I am using the factory bracket anyway, it wont be hanging on the bezel anymore. I am just wondering if i need to install the cage still (the cage that came with the radio)
