Piece Identification

I have a S4 Tll and I was wondering what connects to the metal pipe right across from the knock sensor. It is on the middle iron pointing to the back.

Anybody? I have a feeling it goes to emissions but I cant find anything on it in the Haynes manual.

it goes to the crankcase vent line on the firewall right above the fuel lines.

Actually, there's supposed to be a 1/4" or 6mm formed hose that snakes upward to the "purge valve".
The hose is black rubber and looks kinda like a "?".
