Mine is an 80 amp main. So i wouldn't put a 100 in there unless you know its supposed to have it.

Swap the battery out for another one and try it.

You putting it in the right way? The negative terminal will be closer to the nose section of the car, not the firewall.

Mine is 80 AMP as well.
Obviously theres a huge draw from somewhere.

Make sure the voltage is right from the battery and try the looking at the starter. Those are the easy ones.

Another thing I might recommend would be pull ALL the fuses in the main block and try to systematically reduce your options. Then you might try the fuse block in the drivers side kick panel.

The thing that blew my 80 AMP was I forgot to disconnect the battery and removed the connector from the altnerator when I was changing it and it hit metal(can you say spark! hehe).

Good Luck.

more info

o.k. it's not the starter or ign switch
both are completely disconnected and it still blew the fuse..
Now when I took off the B+ cable going to the alternator it didn't blow the fuse..I replaced the alternator and reconnected it and it blew the fuse..
I'm thinking either batt cables are on wrong
or that B+ cable going to the Alt is shorted to ground..
Blowing an 80amp fuse it's got to be a pretty good short to ground,

P.S. all fuses in car are o.k.

Any other ideas on this one? I'm having the same problem on my '88 vert. Though, I have not been able to check the alternator yet. I need to figure this out by wednesday, hopefully, if anyone has any thoughts or "common causes" of this trouble, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The car is currently located near the boarder of PA and NJ. I'm hoping to get it started this week when I return to pick her up so that I can drive it onto the trailer under her own power.

Thanks for any assistance.
