Hey these prices are great.

Sine SPI doesn't make the more accurate digital temp gauges anymore, I decided on the VDO as a good quality lower cost alternative.

very cool, I just purchased a VDO water temp gauge myself, except I got it from Summit racing, and got the Pro Cockpit series that is 2 5/8

I've never seen the series you purchased, but it looks nice!

Next on the list, oil press, oil temp. I think I'll stick with the larger size of pro cockpit.

I noticed they list a bunch of senders, my kit from summit only came with one. They also talk about a special sender for a warning light, but I didn't see any for the VDO gauge

Whoa,

Did you see these full sweep electric guages?

"ISSPRO Enhanced Visibility"

I wonder what the quality is like....damn I wish I had seen these before I ordered the water temp. It's pretty rare to find an electric full sweep gauge.

Hm, I havent seen much from VDO. Looks like the guages they sell at AutoZone. If theyre better than Autometers, then theyre a deal.

VDO makes OEM Porsche gauges!

While not as well known I guess, I thought everyone had heard of them. Not many places carry them, but they offer as much as autometer in terms of different styles

I run a trio of VDO gauges in my FC.&nbsp Oil temp, oil press, voltmeter - these are electric units with 90&#176 sweep.

My SPI is a 270&#176 "full" sweep electric water temp and fuel pressure gauges.&nbsp They were some of the first "full sweep" electronic gauges made.&nbsp These things were pricey.

I have never had any problems with the VDO units over the past 5 years I've had them.&nbsp Most folks in the US don't know about them - they are made in Germany, and I would trust them over any Autometer gauge any day.&nbsp Autometer is like Budwiser - lots of advertising on an "economical" built product.&nbsp Like SoloIIdrift mentioned - they are OEM on Porsche (and some other European brands - Saab?&nbsp Volvo?&nbsp VW?).&nbsp Ever seen an Autometer on a Porsche?

Yes, the styling is rather bland.&nbsp I don't buy my gauges to impress someone else.&nbsp I just need them to WORK.

Excellant point RETED. Go with what works. Like my saying on a certain Catback: "Just because its cheap, shiney and loud does not make it good!!!"

Thumbs up

VDO is the most popular and well known gauge producer in europe.
They used it on old beetles , so they have been around for a long time.
Quality alle the way! Good choice
