sorry i dont come on here much and i forgot about this thread.
well after finally getting it all setup 90% how i want it, I have started to hear buzzing. last time it made the same sound when the "top" weld at the "rear" of the muffler split open. i hope it isnt the same problem. If this is the case I think Edelbrock needs to look into a couple things.. 1) new MIG setup 2) new welding guy.
the weld on the last muffler could hardly be called that, more like a bead placed on the metal. if the same thing has happened to this one i will be pissed. as i have two choices... 1) break out the TIG and fix it myself, possibly voiding the warranty or 2) sending it back putting my car out of commission for 2 more weeks, just to get another muffler that breaks on my.
i wonder if the heavy duty muffler would do any better. and i wonder what makes it HD... they used a real welder???
oh by the way. my muffler clamps on to the end of the collector you see there. the other end clamps on the mandrel bend and goes straight out the side.
does any body know of a muffler that will stand up to rotary heat at that position and quieten at the same time. Straight through mufflers are a joke when it comes to muffling, and chambered tend to go "POP" on a rotary.
also, i notice midrange is hurting, possibly high end as well. but low end is great.
this exhaust sounds MEAN at 1900 rpm 5th gear under accel.......just beautiful

This muffler has 500 miles on it. The internals are intact, minus stuffing.
The shop I took the pics at didn't have a good light source. At the exhaust shop you could see that all the packing material was blown out of the top half of the muffler.
Edelbrock RPM mufflers have no business before the rear axle on an N/A rotary.
Jeg's is giving me a refund. I have a long glass pack in there where this once was, with the louvers aimed out the back to (hopefully) prevent the glass from blowing out of it. Even if it does burn the glass out it wont resonate like these things do when they fail.
