Pics of my project car
Hey all:
Just installed the motor in my '90 GXL last week and snapped a few pics over the weekend. Unfortunately, my antiquated PC here won't let me resize them to display here. Anyone want to do the honor for me?
I'm still waiting on a few odds and ends before firing it up for the first time, but she's almost there!!!
Motor specs:
'90 N/A high-comp rotors, machined for 3mm seals.
3mm Hurley long-life apex seals
'85 3mm 1-piece corner seals
3rd gen. side seal and corner seal springs
'88 TII rotor housings, mild exhaust port
'88 TII intermediate housing (bigger port than stock)
'90 end housings, mild port, steel puty shaped the intake (does what the corksport insert does, without the insert : )
3rd gen oil pressure regulator
s.s. oil lines
RB main pully, WAI $10 alternator pully : )
Mazdacomp oil pan baffle
ported the bejesus out of the upper/middle/lower intakes
TII secondary fuel injectors - JUST IN CASE
With the fuel dialed in, I'm shooting for around 180 RWHP with all the rest of my mods.
Regards,
Shawn

BTW, NA injectors will support ~200rwhp quite happily.

Vosko:
You've got mail Thanks a bunch!
NZConvertible:
I will use either the Apexi S-AFC or the Field SFC unit. In my case, to take out a bunch of fuel
I used the TII injectors simply because they were laying around and had 35k miles on them as opposed to 140k miles on the stock injectors.
I planned this project with a fuel controller in mind, so I felt the larger injectors wouldn't hurt. And who knows, maybe some day someone, somewhere will convince me that I need to use the bottle...

N02, bah! You better have that S-AFC in the mail, cuz you are going to run soooo rich, you will actually loose power. Just get the n/a one's rebuilt. RC Engineering does it for $100 to rebuild, and blue-print all four!! And it can be done in a few days!

Wow those are big
Thanks a million, Vosko!!
Ummmmm, about that water pump - a bit rusty on the outside, but it was in perfect shape on the other side, and spun very freely.
These pics were taken before I installed the RB header and s.s. oil return lines, but you can see the s.s. clutch line.
Was curious, what is that round connector for, in the last two pics?? It's part of the main engine harness, and it comoes out of the wiring loom right next to the water thermosensor connector.
And it ain't the O2 sensor connector...
