pics of my aws and what to remove..

Since the tb is off, I've been cleaning the carb for like an hour. But anyways I saw the aws and I can take it off, I just want to verify what to take off. Heres a pic of how I think it works...

If you look in pic 1, the cam wich is connected to the throttle plates, is left open. When the thermowax warms up, it pushes that adjustable screw in pic1 to slide the cam into the slot, putting the throttle at 0.
Im sorry but thats the best way I can explain it, but is that how it works?

If I remove the entire thermowax pin thing, is that the best way to take this system out?

thx

thats not the AWS .. the aws is a valve thingy sitting on top of the intake.
the Thermowax is for idle when the engine is cold.

I'm keeping my thermo but removeing my AWS.

But ... how do we do that ? .. problem is if you remove the AWS the damn ECU opens the BAC valve instead to keep the engine doing the damn 3000rmp start! ..

anyone have a good way of dissableing the aws ?

/bo

i have a s5 turbo.. so should be somewhat different.

But, my AWS valve is sitting on the top of the upper intake manifold connected to the intake itself and the IC. in the FSM "04B_Fuel_and_emission_control_systems_turbo.p df" for the S5 its on page F2 index and marked as nr 22.

It's called a throttle body. It's bolted to the upper intake manifold (UIM), which is what you've removed.

You're in completely the wrong place, that's the thermowax. Assuming this is for your NA S4, the AWS solenoid valve (actually called the "air bypass solenoid valve") is mounted on the side of the UIM plenum chamber by the BAC valve, and is shown on pages 4A-3 and 4A-63 of the FSM.
