The kit is NOT a true bolt-in for an S4. There is some cutting/modifying involved. If you want to keep the power steering you have to modify the upper pipe into the TB to clear the power steering pump. I ditched the power steering an A/C to offset some weight since I was converting from an NA motor to a turbo motor at the same time (this is NOT my daily car). Also, on my car, I had to cut a bit of the front bumper cover brake ducts so that the pipes in and out of the core of the FMIC fit nicely. Please note, my car is an S4 but I have an S5 bumper cover on it.

I bought an Optima red top during the install and a relocation kit. The new battery is now ini the passnger rear storage bin. I could have cut up the piping to fit the battery but I bought a pre-made kit for a reason. If I wanted even more cutting than what was already involved PLUS modifications to the pipes including welding, I would have made my own kit. I could have gotten a smaller battery but I think that a good battery is important for the FC's crappy charging system. With the red top and the relocation, everybody wins and it doesn't cost much at all. The red top is the right size and it gives me a LOAD of cold cranking amps plus the relocation kit gives me slightly better weight distribution. It also frees up space in the engine bay for a cleaner look and room to work or fabricate a mount for something in the future (can you say MSD box?) It also made the fuel pump rewire easier.
