Um, didn't you read what I just posted?
The relay draws very little current and is quite safe plugged into the diagnostic plug. The fan motor is what draws your 13.9A, and that comes straight from the battery (if you've wired it right).

I know the instructions on those fans aren't very clear. The B terminal on your fan goes straight to the battery (via a fuse), the + terminal goes to your ignition source.

If you really don't think you should use the dianostic plug (?), get a DMM or test light and look for a wire that's hot with the ignition on. Or just go straight to the main realy by the traling coil (which is where the diagnostic plug is powered from anyway).

Oops! Big Oops! You are refering to the Ignition source to be applicable to the Diagnostic plug but not as a direct power source (I think). Sorry long day. Drove for many hrs today, very exhausted!

Quite honestly, vulteivs pics were unable to show up on my PC so I can't see his set up which may have set the confusion!
