Pics: Black hood on Arctic Silver FC..what do you think?
Today I put my T2 aluminum hood on, just for a test fit. Once I got it on, I thought it really looked good like that. I was planning on having it repainted silver, but then my friend stopped by, and even he said it looked really aggressive black. The whole color scheme of my car is black/silver anyway (black interior, black sidemouldings, mirrors, black Intake and engine accesories, etc..) I thought Id post it up to get some more opinions. It will get repainted either way, but Im deciding black or silver now.. Heres some pics from today..

I'm not a big fan of mis-matched body parts. I don't like it. Makes me think of "Work in progress"...
It would probably look better with the headlight covers painted.

I agree, it is your car. Personally, I think it looks sexy as hell! I'm getting a black hood for my FC here soon, I hope. I don't like the silver/black thing much, but I'm a white-only FC kinda guy, lol. You should get a carbon fiber TII hood.

Looks nice but if your going for silver and black i'd go with some black wheels too and paint the headlight covers if you keep the hood black, maybe even get a cover witha intake scoop while your at it

I think if you put other black parts on it it will look great. Maybe a TII black wing and black rims. Since the mirrors should already be black it should look pretty good. Maybe darken the tails a little too, not too much though.

It will be acceptable if you paint the headlight covers black as well, otherwise imo it looks like you just want that super dope funky fresh azn cf look :/

P.S. aluminum dispatches the heat a little better than CF, aluminum would also be my choice. CF hoods are for rich boy ricers!

Ok, here's the deal......carbon fiber hoods are usually the dark grey or black of the carbon fiber and they are shiny. CF hoods are for light weight.
The reason for having a black hood, in aluminum or steel, is not to emulate the expensive carbon fiber hoods, but to reduce the blinding glare you get from shiny, brightly colored hoods. When racing, road racing, rally racing, etc, you need to see what is ahead of you and the sun can blind you when it reflects off of the hood to the point that you cannot see anything.
The earliest use of this that I know of is on the P-51 Mustang:
Then there was the muscle car era and the race inspired paint schemes:
And of course, so many football players with the black smudges under their eyes.
If the hood is to be black for a 'reason', then it would be matte black, not flat, for glare reduction.
If not for a reason, then do it because you like the look of the black hood on a silver car (I like it...). Tell people it's an extra wide stripe.
Either way, paint or change the headlight panels to match the hood. If you were to keep that piant scheme, get rid of all other black on the car except for black or charcoal wheels. If the hood and wheels are the only black painted exterior stuff, the car will have a much cleaner, sleeker look. Otherwise, it will look too 'busy'.
