Pic of new paint

What do you think. I've been working on my FC for a year and finnaly finished the paint. Next is rebuild the drive train this winter and maybe start on some mods. Right now it's completely stock but I'm considering somethings I've read on this forum, any suggestions?

Nice and clean...get a pair of FTP's, they always look better installed than removed. I believe corksport sells the Japanese ones at a good price brand new in mazda boxes and unlike the US pieces they have a bulb/wiring to come on with your dims (a neat touch).

Thanks, it's my first time painting a car. it took a year and I had to do it twice before I got it right. I finished it during the last of three hurricanes that went through Orlando.

Nice, I particullarly like the tree thats been ripped out of the ground in the backround, proves the car is in Florida. Glad to see your car made it through unscathed.

Yea i need to get mine painted to anyone have a idea on the general idea on how much it would cost to get a car painted the exact same red as that one up top becuase i have a 87 TII thats red like that but is a little faded and has a couple dings that i want to get fixed so it will need a new paint job.

If you do it yourself it runs around 900.00 depending on the amount of body damage. I put a new bumper cover and drivers quarter panel. The three estimates I got for that kind of paint job was anywhere between 1500.00 and 1800.00. But I wanted to do it myself.
Next is MODS!!!!!!

IT's a nice paint job, red isn't the best color in my opinion, but the world wouldn't be good if we all thought alike. Nice job for a 1st painter,do you need some airbrush work done?????

It's a two part urethane paint. I can send you the specs on it when I get home, I'm still at work.

It's not my every day driver so I figured if I screwed it up I could get a pro to do it. I broke both passing lenses so I'm going to make some new ones out of plexy glass. I couldn't decide at first to paint the mirror housings black or red but I think red was the best.

That's the kinda dedication you'd expect from an RX-7 owner

That looks really good! I hope mine turns out like that. I'm curious, what went wrong that caused you to redo it a second time? I'm trying to avoid having to redo mine. I'm still in the prep stage now, and hope to finish by late November. Well good job!

Well I didn't clean the body good enough and had some dirt on it before I started the first coat. If your doing this in a garage make sure you wet the concrete real good before you paint. Any dust you kick up before you paint or while your doing it will stick to the paint and really sitick out.
What I did was go to ajunk yard and buy a hood off an old beat up pickup truck and praticed on it first before I attempted to paint my 7. I spent a month painting and repainting it before I got it right.
Just remember, it's not the paint job it's the prep work that pays off. After you sand any inperfections out keep sandigng and priming until you can't take it anymore than shoot it.

Oh by the way Lizard FC post a pic or two on your progress. I'm sure that you will get "good advice" on this forum on your progress. I have found great information here and hope when I rebuild my drive train and do some mods the info keeps coming!
