Performance mods/parts for Tranny?

Ok so my 5th gear synchro is going out fast, so I need to rebuild my tranny. My question is, is there anyway to beef up or modify my tranny to handle more power? Or any performance parts I could buy?

Thanks

you could, in theory, switch to a TII tranny, but you'll need a new driveshaft.

It could be something wrong with the clutch, but if you're grinding while moving, it's the syncros.

Well you can swap in the 3rd gen 5th syncro and have a top speed of 180 at redline.

Or you could check out www.gurumotorsports.com and be prepared to throw away some serious dough.

180? yea, thats functional, then you'd have to spend a a ton trying to get the n/a motor to even be able to max out 5th.....spending the money for a dogmission on a n/a...not gonna touch that matter....

The N/A Tranny's speed @ redline is 183...

Anyway, BDoty I can probably get you a TII tranny pretty cheaply here in Springfield. E-Mail AgeOfGlow@aol.com (me) w/ your AIM name if you wanna talk about it.

What else would I have to do to use a TII tranny? The only reason I want one because I maybe, just maybe adding boost to my car. Thinking about fabricating my own supercharger setup, I dont feel like paying $2600 for the kit for the FC, but Im still planning/thinking about how I would do it.

Tranny and Driveshaft for sure (DS can be made for under $100 in Springfield)

MIGHT need a Flywheel and clutch. If that's the case, you can probably get some good, working units from the same guy for cheap cheap.

You HAVE to use the TII flywheel..use the flywheel..you use the clutch assembly.

From what I've peiced together...

You'd need a new friction disc for your clutch (w/ the N/A OD and the TII spline count) and a new driveshaft. PLUS you'll have to cannibalize your N/A transmission. Swap the N/A's Bellhousing and Starter to the TII transmission (so the starter will be in the right location), and bolt it up.

I'm checking this info as more knowlagable people make their way to my Buddylist... damned away messages.

you could cryo treat/shotpeen the parts, that would beef it up a bit. Plus you wouldn't need a new d-shaft or anything
