Performance
is there any preffered brands for rotary performance?
fuel pressure regulator -
fuel rail -
injectors (how big) -
nitrous -
header -
custom exhaust or full bolt on -
clutch -
flywheel -
intake manifold?
custom intake?
or buy one?
i am fairly good at fabricating and if i cant my buddy can in the machine shop. i also wanna put at least a rearhalf cage in it with a big X across the back window for i can hang my bottle off of it. mostly for looks, but if theres any autocrossing events out my way id like to try it. what are good springs for 7's for handling, and a good lowered look. like i said, im dumb about rx7s. mine was 500 bucks with a bad motor and all interior pieces. but i wanna try sumthin new. i have had way too many hondas. thanks for all ur help, adam

fuel pressure regulator - Aeromotive or SX
fuel rail - Don't need one
injectors (how big) - 2x 720cc, 4 x 1600cc
nitrous - I use NOS pretty much exculsively
header - Racingbeat or Mindtrain
custom exhaust or full bolt on - RB full exhaust is nice
clutch - ACT, or even better, OS Giken
flywheel - Racing Beat aluminum
intake manifold? No aftermarket ones worthwhile
custom intake? how can you have a brand of custom intake....? Fine. Hogan sheet metal.
or buy one? No.

if you are going to keep it NA and are looking for more horsepower get a 89-91 NA rather then an 88.
89-91 na motor have lighter rotors, higher compression, and 16 more horsepower stock then an 86-88. lookout for the GTUs (rare to find) because they have a higher differential ratio (4.33:1 instead of the normal 4.10:1)
another thing.
if the 88 you are looking at has an LSD then it would be a better LSD then the LSD on 89-91 NA models. mazda used clutch type 'positraction' lsds in 87-88 which are better then the viscous lsds of the 89-90 (and some rare 91s)
one of the best rotary engine specialists/builders is in your state. check them out at
www.atkinsrotary.com
call them up, they are always willing to answer 'rotorhead' questions... maybe a good idea would be to buy the 88 and have atkins build you a good ported motor..
or forget NA and forget turbos and use that plastic card to get their new EFI supercharger like im hoping to do once it finally comes out
with all the upgrades you listed including injectors upgrades and a good fuel pump it should net you 250-260 horses easy.. and a lot more with an ecu/engine management upgrade.

I wanna get my hands on that supercharger wheNOW!
for 2nd gen exhaust the hands down best brand imo is racingbeat. (btw, chris @ racing beat is the man)
im runing their streetable header --> presilencer --> ypipe -> dual powerpulse NA mufflers. great system.. loud and articulate when at WOT and very quiet at idle/cruising.
www.racingbeat.com
they just came out with a full 'true dual' system which is even more powerfull/torque happy then what i have. its a bit louder but if your state doesnt have emissions testing i would go with that. when i have to pass nj emissions i just swap my presilencer with a catco cat, hook up my split air pipe and pass with ease. this would not be as easy to do with a true dual system.

Springs... full adjustable coilovers are nice... try K2RD, Tein, JIC, and upwards. These will allow you to adjust the ride height to whatever you want.

will the 89-91 bolt right in too? or is there mounts needed? sorry im so stupid about rx7s, i got mine yesterday. and as soon as someone buys my prelude im dumpin all that money into it. well kinda, into my bills, just to make more
with the intake thing i meant buy a brand name or make my own, and exhaust, is it healthy to get ?2 "performance" mufflers, and full piping after the header, with a highflo cat? no fuel rail tho? and what about zex?

You could probably safely run a little bit larger shot on a fresh engine if you got at least an s-afc to tune it on a dyno with. I do believe there have been some NA guys in the 14s without N20, not toally sure. But I guess its possible to get in the 13s spraying. But I'd expect mid 14s or so.

Depending on the rest of the set-up, 10's and 11's are not impossible when injecting nitrous onto an otherwise N/A engine.
The owner should be pretty depressed if a 100 shot doesn't put him DEEP into the 13's.

I'm all for you trying to get 250 out of an N/A. A challenge is always fun. Anybody can get 250 out of a TII
Oh, one other thing >>> weight reduction. You can take 200-300 pounds out of the car.
