to the people running a external wastegate

do you route it back into your exhaust or just run it into the open under the hood?
im trying to get an idea as to how loud this would actually be if left open...
if someone has there's ran back into the exhaust could you post a pic so i can see for an example?
we only have visual inspection for smog so i dont think they would app. it much if i ran it in the open...

I run mine back into the downpipe. I tried running it open pointing down at the ground but the only problem was that at WOT when the wastegate opened it sounded like a geo metro with a open header, it sounded horrible. As far as a pic goes it's going to be a little difficult because you can't even see it from the top of the engine compartment. I would have to jack the car up and take pics from the bottom.

I think it going to sound like **** being not plumbed back into the exhaust. There's a new company out I heard from at a Orlando,FL trade show selling wastegates at pretty nice prices. Anyways I bought one just because it was seemed like a good soild piece CNC machined from a solid piece of billet plus they are smaller and supposively alot easier and cheap to rebuild. Here's the site http://www.jgstools.com/turbo/index2.html Good Luck with the 7!

Downside is that it is V-Band on both sides so expect to dish out a bit more money.

yeah man theyre crazy cheap for a 50mm w/g. I was about to buy a HKS wastegate from http://murrayauto.com/home.cfm and easily dish out $700 for a 50mm but then I heard from JGS and the price and quality is unbelievable. I paid a total of $405 shipped for a 50mm. Also if you feel skeptical about it you can always go the TiAl route which was my second choice but then again their 46mm cost like 50 or 60 dollars more or something like that than a 50 from JGS.

What I ment by dish out more money is that...well in my case I have HKS exhaust manifold and it's wategate plumbing is adapted to wastegates that would bolt on to it. The problem in my situation is that the W/G is a V-band therefore I have to dish out a bit more cash to have a custom adapter/flange to connect my v-band to W/G.

Its called a dump tube. it carries the exhaust away from the engine compartment and usually ends near the back of the downpipe

Mine vents to the atmosphere. It's a HKs Standard wastegate. I think that's what 40mm? A simple 3" long tube. I think It's pretty sweet. Gonna make a small silencer. for it.

The sound is badass when its just vented into the atmosphere.. sounds like a damn jet when the wastegate opens up.. I love the sound. The Tial wastegates are really good.. but you got the FD manifold.. so youd need to modify the wastegate flange on the manifold for the tial.

see, i dont even know which ones will fit this?
if i did want a TIAL, would i have to buy a flange and weld onto my manifold?
