paying for '90 TurboII engine swap help

ok, I'm in Royal Oak, MI right now, and I *NEED* help with this engine swap. I'm about 20 hours into it right now and the friggin' old engine isn't even removed yet.

I'm willing to pay you (in cash) to help me get this new thing installed and running in the new car. If you're in the area (or willing to make a weekend trip) and want to make some $$$, reply here or eMail me or whatever. I am SICK of this friggin' thing... the only way I can see to get this thing pulled right now is to unplug the harness from the ecu, but then how am I going to re-use the old harness?

Anyhow, if you can help, let me know ASAP because I really want this sucker up and running pronto.

oh wait up man.. easy bro. its all fun and game man, just ease up some homes. dont pay anyone to do **** on your car man, just go in there look at everything and slowly start removing stuff. once you get down the the vacum line/solinoid rail unbolt that, and then the harness will come right off, be sure to label that joker with something nice and perment. then get under the car and remove the starter, and unbolt the trans, be sure to support it with some blocks/ jackstand/ your little bro, whichever. then unbolt the engine itself and raise it up some then eeeaassseeee it foward from the trans, it may take some working. This is slack directions, and there is a full write up on here, but its all easy man, just take your time, toss some tunes on, bring some snacks, simple bro. good luck man

Dude don't even worry about it. Its cake. Check it out, Im an 18 year old and I have really had no experience on cars. I may have changed the oil and a belt or 2 a few times, but nothing major. Well my engine went out, and I got cracking. Me and my 17 year old friend (no extensive car knowledge either) got it out in a few days. Just get the haynes manual, and download the engine section of the Factory Service Manual from http://www.fc3s.org. Follow all the directions and you should be fine. If you need some help on a certain part, just ask someone here and we'd be more than willing to help.

it's really not as hard as you think. if your new engine doesn't have a harness on it, just remove your old engines upper intake and you should be able to unhook the old harness, then just throw it over the fender so it is out of the way, put a jack under the transmission (if leaving it in the car for the swap) remove the starter and unbolt the transmission from the engine block, and remove the engine mounts first though (easier, I found) Then just pull it out, not very hard. Me and a friend did it in less than 3 hours, and we have never done anything like it before.

how do I get the whole upper intake off? that's the problem. I'm trying to take off the intake part that goes to the throttle body from the intercooler, because that big huge harness bracket thingey has ONE friggin' bolt left to get to, and I can't get to it without taking that intake sucker off. I suppose just yanking the WHOLE intake would do it?

Not counting the IC, 5x12mm nuts and 1x12mm bolt, plus the OMP rod, TPS and AIT connectors, and a few vacum lines will get the upper intake off.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I've been dickering out on replacing the engine in my TII for about 3 months now and I'm still halfway there and I don't have enough money for an engine yet. How far are you from Cincinnati?

Cleveland? It's at least a few hours, I'd say at least 3 hours from Cincinnati. But right now I'm up in Michigan for school/work unfortunately.. so I'd say at least 5 hours.
