Passenger Side window Failure
Passenger Side window Failure
alrighty then, odd issue that may not be as cut and dry as I'd hoped.... so I figure I'll look for the wise ones here.
The passenger side window will not go down from either the passenger side switch or the driver side switch.
The previous owner tried replacing the motor, and that didn't help...
I was told it was because the passenger side switch is bad... but now I'm not so sure.
So here's the question.
If it's just the passenger side switch bad would that stop the driver side switch from working or is there something else.
And don't get me wrong the passenger side switch is pretty obviously bad, broken and kaput...
So that's the question, should I be replacing that switch... or looking more closely at the drivers side switch?

does the pass side window work without the switch (if you hot wire power to the window motor, does the window raise and lower?). I'd for sure make sure that the hardware works before i got into the switches. I dont know if the window switches work independently. i suspect that they do.
strange....well
lie what jenkin sid, check to make sure the motor is okay first
if it is then replace the switch
i dont know about swanton187 car but mine wouldnt go down unless we had put another switch in for the passenger

I had the same problem. Best thing to do is to clean the crap out of both sides switches. Completly dissasemble them and use contact cleaner (I used carb cleanerand it worked fine!). Now the problem with mine was that the driver side switch box was broken where the top screw is supposed to close it up. Since it wasn't closing the contacts were not meeting.
With both driver and passenger switches cleaned, Key in the "ON" position, I squeezed the swith tight and then operated the button and it worked fine.
In conclusion, Clean your contacts and make sure your boxes seal up tight!

i dont know how many of you took yours apart but there is a V shaped thing as the contact, and it has little wings going either side off the top of the V. i had to spend about an hour reshaping mine to be just right, and testing with a meter, then rebending and trying again...it was a bitch...but it works now. take your door panel off, clean and rebend your contacts, put it all back together. i have to take mine apart again to clean out my tracks cause when i put my windows down they go DAH DAH DAH DAH DAH....all the way down...
