passenger door wont unlock

I cant get my passenger door open with the outside or inside handle. It all started when the door was locked and my gf pulled on the handle as i was moving the lock slider on the inside up to unlock it. Every since then it took me a few minutes to get it unlocked but it always did eventually. Now it wont at all. I took off the plastic surround that surrounds the inside door handle and slider. When i try to unlock it with the key i can see the rod for the slider move but its not enough. I have tried to pull it with needle nose pliers and still nothin. Any help is appreciated. If i can just get the door open i can get the panel off and fix it.

Don't go breaking **** The same thing happened to my FC and it took me forever to figure out the problem. More than likely, the little spring down in the door latch that returns some lever/rod whatever to it's place snapped off.

To open the door- Roll down the window and pop off the exterior window seal trim piece, get a wire coat hanger, and straighten it out. It's hard to tell you what to push on, but there's a little arm that pokes out that's right beside the door slider thing that comes off of the interior door handle. If you're looking down from outside of the car, it's towards the left of the door, just to the top-right of the door latch. That's really the best I've got, sorry I don't have a picture. Just push down on everything you see that looks like that

Once you've pushed it down, the door should open. It will open and close right until the door is locked, then you'll have to do this over again.

Eventually on my FC, this trick stopped working, and I had to play with it for hours pulling and pushing on small levers and rods until I got the door open.

So to make your life easier, pop the door panel off once the door's open, roll up the window, and look around on the door latch for a place towards the bottom that either has a spring hanging from it or appears to have a hole for one side of the spring with another hole on a close lever. I don't know where you could source another spring, I took one off of another door I had. It's a pain, but pop the new spring on and you'll have a back to normal door.

Hopefully me typing all that wasn't worthless and it actually helps. If it doesn't, atleast I tried. Good luck man, PM me if you've got a question or just search around until you fine a thread relating to this.

well i tried to get the door open for about 2 hours and no success. The slider on the inside will now go all the way up to unlock position, but not all the way down to lock position with the key. It feels like both the handles and the lock cylinder are doing there job but the latch wont let go. I guess this is the problem with the spring ive been hearing of.

well i gently pulled the door panel off so i can see all the rods and the latch and everything. I pulled and pushed on alot of stuff with no luck. The spring on the latch looks like its still on and not broken.

Door lock or door open rod may have slipped on the plastic bracket that snaps closed and is used to adjust the distance between the rod and latch mechanism. There are two of these on the interior lever and lock button, and two near the latch (one to the lock and one to the handle). Looking down at the window opening of the door, you should see a rod coming up near the handle. You can use a screwdriver to unclip that white plastic clip and push down on the rod once it's disengaged. This will fix you if it's the door open part that's messed. If it's the lock portion it's a bit harder to get to but you may be able to take a long flat bracket to push the pivot where the interior door lock rod goes to.

ok dudei deal with this all the time. my driver door is messed up. your easiest bet is to try and get the door panel off,. quite easy to do without messin it up. but you cant get it all the way off for this so just be careful. anyways once you can see in the door move the lock switch up and down and youll see that it wont go all the way up. it is hittin on something. you gotta find that and move it up then unlock the door. as far as for fixing it i tried one afternoon and never got it. the only way around this i have found it close door, lock it, then unlock when needed and then try to open. it you pull the handle when its locked your back to the beginnin. kinda sucks

well i got it to open again and immediately pulled the panel off. I honestly cant see anything that is wrong with it and like thejallenator said if i shut it lock the door pull the handle then unlock it, it wont open. Ima grease up the mechanism and never lock the doors again.

ima finish this thread beacuse i was searching this problem and saw alot that weren't. I fixed it today and it is back to the way it was from the factory. My problem was there was slack in the lock rods so i bent one of the rods back straight and it works like new again. Thanks to all who helped.
