PARTS NEEDED for a S5 intake swap...

OK correct me if I'm wrong but I need a parts list on what I need to get this going... I wanna swap a S5 intake manifold to a S3 GSL-SE block...
List that I think I'm gonna need:

Upper and Lower intake Manifold
AFM
ECU AND HARNESS
FUEL INJECTORS

WHAT ELSE??? I know I need to port the manifolds to fit right... I know that ACV and airpump will pass emissions without the rats nest...

what about this VDI stuff.... I've heard about this but I'm not sure how it works... can someone school me on this...

thanks FC rotor heads....

you dont really need the ecu and harness i think. Grab the upper and lower, the fuel rails , but use your injectors and your AFM, and you should be fine one the ecu. I dont know jack about first gens however. The VDI is a rotating valve in the intake which opens up to effectivly shorten the intake tract for high rpm. You could do one of 3 things; 1) leave it open, full top end, lose soem low end. 2) leave it closed, youll be down about 20 hp+ top end but will have better low end. 3) buy and rpm switch and activate it using a solenoid with airpump pressure, good top and low end. I reccomend either elaving it open, or actuating it, if you dont you effectivly have the same manifold you did before, so whats the point of swapping?

I expect you can use the 1st gen ECU and AFM but you will need a RPM switch to control the VDI and 6 ports depending on how you hook it up. I would not use the s5 ECU as it uses an electric OMP and would most likely complain if you try to use it without a pump hooked up. If the 1st gen has a EGR valve you will neeed a block off plate for that.

Their's no egr valve in a GSL-SE...but couldn't you use the mechanical oil metering pump on the S5 manifold... but if not... then can a S5 OIL METERING PUMP fit on a S3 block???....one big reason... the GSL-SE AFM is too small... and the S4 isn't big enough... but the S5 is perfect...

I expect you could swap metering pumps. Lots of work though as I think you would have to change the front cover. You would be swapping out almost everything (intake, ECU, front cover, oil metering pump, wiring etc). I have seen posts for using the S5 AFM with the S4 ECU. Maybe it could be used with the 1st gen ECU.

I tried putting a 87 AFM with the stock N304 ecu... it starts up... but sputters and shakes a lot... not smooth... I haven't tried putting a S5 though...
