Part ID please

Hey,
Just wondering what this part is. Its attached to the oil line for the turbo. Guessing its something with the emissions that has now been removed?

Motor is '87 S4 Turbo

Cheers

that pipe is part of the purge system for the sump space
air from the air cleaner goes via a one way valve to this pipe and out the other end to one of the nipples on the oil filler neck base
the other nipple ,, tees with the line coming out of the charcoal trap and goes to the purge valve

the purge valve is switch by a pressure differential ,, and allows the sump to be sucked dry of vapours with the engine vacuum

-- that sump vapour is of course replaced with fresh air via this pipe

I was going to say turbo-oil supply line, since the source is about the same place, and it routes TO the same area, but then I saw the flange at the top-left of the pic...

Good thing YOU'RE the one answering the questions, here!

yeps, its only for emissions stuff,, but crankcase ventilation is vital for turbo and oil control ring longevity
so if you mod the OEM system, make sure you have a functional catch can alternative ,, be sure that the sump is not simply sealed up

OK. I have some more questions of newbish quality.

So as I may have mentioned I havent looked at the car for a while and now Im trying to put it back together.

Im starting to connect all the plugs and Im wondering....

- Is it ok just to cut plugs that were emissions related?
- If the plugs fit then thats where they belong
- And, can anyone I.D. these plugs (below)? I think they are from the emissions stuff, but would like to remove them if they are not needed.

Top to bottom
- This plug comes out of the back of the thermostat housing (I just thought it may connect to the plug that comes off the alt cables)
- Did this used to plug on the the emissions thing (sorry can remember what it was) with big blank off plate on the LIM
- Again, emissions related?
- Wtf random yellow plug with nothing to plug into?

- Emissions?

- I seem to have a million plugs with nothing to connect to >_<
- Also the little black plug that comes off the coils is for diagnostic right?
