Parking Brake stuck after leaving it on too long
So I went to release the parking brake the other day and it was siezed. I don't believe the cable is snapped because I can still get some resistence from it.
Anyone have any suggested processes to try before I need to jack up the car?

A friend of mine had this problem and was able to release the brake just by gunning the engine and slipping the clutch.
Don't know if this a sensible idea but it worked.
How long has the car been sitting?
ps Be ready for the car shooting forward.

Hmmm, I was wondering if pushing and pulling it may release it.
Edit: Pushing it back and forth the length of the car worked fine.

I had this same problem with my 88 vert...i suppose it could be called a common problem
my ebrake never worked right but one time i parked on a steep hill and pulled the brake really hard
when i got back to the car and released the brake it only released partially and after about a half mile i smelled the burning break pad..
you probably just need to replace the brake line

Sorry Man..Parking brake is Cable operated. The springs on the Calipers can get rusty, causing it to stick. The cables can get Gummed up from Road Grime.I have Disassembled Two Fc's,and It keeps going through my head. The worst Thing I think, would be Replacing the E-brake cables. They are a Beotch to get to.Especially where all Three join onto the Cable holder(clip?),Above the Driveshaft and Exhaust..I would rather Replace the engine than do the Ebrake. If the threadstarter still has problems with the Ebrake, check the Calipers.Where the Cable meets each Caliper.the place to check after that is Where the Right and Left meet the Main e-brake cable..Then check the Cable from there to the Handle.Take off the handle Cover(phillip screws) and check to see that the cable is Secure in the Handle Via the CLIP..anyhow..that is My 2 cents..hope it helps.
