Panicked - bought Fluidyne Radiator. Did I make a bad decision?
Hey guys,
Due to my stock radiator having cracked sometime between removing it and putting it back on (over the six months my car has been down for work) ... I filled her up with coolant today to see if she was watertight and the plastic end tanks broke. Since this was pretty much the last thing I was going to do before trying to spin her up for the first time with her new engine, I panicked and just ordered a Fluidyne radiator from Nopi (for $420 plus shipping/tax/etc) ... I didn't even think about the Koyo or K2RD units ... well okay I thought about the K2RD unit but they aren't listing it on their website anymore so I couldn't get any info on it. I also thought about the Koyo but it seemed VERY thick and I often sit in stop-dead traffice for 30 min at a time and was worried about overheating then... and because I wanted to get SOMETHING on order ASAP I went ahead and got the Fluidyne.
Now that I've quit being quite so frustrated, I went ahead and searched this site and it seems the Fluidyne is being dissed a lot compared to the Koyo, and both of them "suck" compared to the K2RD which is apparently still being made despite K2RD's removal of it from their site. So, did I screw up big time on my chance to get a true cooling system upgrade? See my sig for mods... it will mostly be driven street with some occasional autocrossing and possibly one or two 1/4 mile passes for curiosity, which I doubt it will do much better than 14s but I haven't even fired it up yet and I've never driven a turbo so its just guessing.
But now I'm worried and feel like I was stupid and bought an inferior product at a high price. Please either make me realize the stupidity of my ways or grant me encouragement that I am perhaps not the most moronic of the lot.
*sigh* 'tis true... I know nothing.

You made a good choice, Fluidyne is expensive for a reason. Its the best Brand of aftermarket racing radiator and will cool up to 750 H.P. engines(38MM).
I had one in my Turbovert before I started ripping it apart for a 20B swap, I was very pleased with it. My water temp sensor on my MicroTECH ECU never went past 84 C (183 F).

yeah I just found a koyo for 318 shipped. So I think I'm going to stay with koyo plus its a thicker radiator so I believe it cools better than the fluidine (could be wrong). Anyways both are supposed to be the best for our aplications.
Yeah I wanted the fluidyne but I couldnt pass up something that was similar for $100 less. Its more cost preference than anything else, they both adequitly cool our car the fluidyne just happens to be a work of art while its doing so
