Painting windshield trim

My 89 vert has those black strips on the edge and top where the black paint looks bad. Any easy way to remove those for paint?

Thanks!

i believe they slide out if you unscrew and pop off the side mouldings.

ya,they slide under the side moldings just a wee bit .about a half inch.
The strip of rubber is "arrow shaped" and compresses into the slot of the roof and windshield.
Idea: if you do not want to remove the strip then try a matching paint marker in that area, then mask and do the paint as usual.
