Painting series 4 trim? Good idea or what?
Painting series 4 trim? Good idea or what?
I've read some threads that suggest if you ever get a paint job to go ahead and paint the trim too. ie 89-92 models? Is it worth it to do it alone if paint's still good elsewhere? Too much trouble? Does it look cheesey? Scrape off easily? Feedback please!
Thanks.
Thanks.
If ur gonna do it on just the moldings, keep in mind the age of the car/paint and the amount of fading thats occured over those years. If the cars been repainted recently u can try to get the colors matched, if its original paint as i suspect it to be,it'll probably be faded enough that matching it will be a real pain in the ***. As for cheesy,...do u think tII's look cheesy? If so there's ur answer.
My boy can paint and do body work like a mo fo. He rebuilt my other friends aftermarket front end 2 or 3 times and painted it after he hit a few dogs. He painted just the rear of his old 7 and a few other cars. I am thinking of taking off the moldings and bodo'ing them in flat. I really think he can do it too.

That my friend, is 4 months of sanding and prep work and $396 paint job—guaranteed for 3 years! Got it done at Fact-o-Bake…like Maaco up north. I wasn't looking to spend thousands on a car that I'm going to use as a daily driver. I don't think you'd ever make that money back if you tried to sell it. The color is medium gray metallic.
Anyone have any pics of 7 without black side moulding?
I was wondering if anyone removed the black moulding around the outside of your 7 then filled it & had it painted? If so was it alot of work? Any pics? Thanks.
i was interested in this idea too, cause my molding is going to **** (I've got an 87 TII with black moulding that's peeling at corners... think it was rigged up by the previous owner at all?
) In any case, I'm hoping to get the horrible wing off and maybe fill in all the molding, but that's assuming I have time to prep and maybe a little help from some local members. I'll worry about that closer to time though. How long did it take to completely prep the car, and did you get inside the engine bay painted too? Thanks

I got the $360 for mine and they completely stripped the paint down to the metal and did good prep work. It depends on the individual locations. My local Maaco is actually quite good.

Just wondering cause I have black trim and also have a great need for a new paint-job!
