thanks for the pic.

here's a few pics that I took today. Both are with the bumper off because I'm changing from a s4 s5 bumper. My fmic is pretty far back so I don't think it will be seen easily.
I'll have to take pics and show you guys when I put the bumper on.

thanks for all the feedback

Tim
man with that little intercooler you cant really see it with the stock bumper

i though you had a large one with a big mouth on the bumper

hahahahh that's funny nzconvertible...

I'll be putting the bumper back on probably friday... can't wait...
car is coming out this weekend

woohoo...

I used krylon rust paint. I was thinking of just painting everything except the fins. I don't think it will really matter much cause it's pretty hidden...

I"m so itchy I think I wanna place my bumper on just to see what it looks like...

This is a case of an intercooler that needs to be painted:

It's mine...I just haven't had any time to...especially living in California I need to get it done fast.

Do I need to try and sand the fins too? And just basic primer and paint routine right?

S5 bumper isnt made for a FMIC? Of course not.....thats why you have to snip, snip, snip

Would powder coating be to much heat? I would think it would make those thin fins brittle?

You need to get that license plate OUT of the way...

That intercooler is already pretty damn small, and you have no ducting to get the air to it. The license plate seems to be blocking basically all of the air coming directly at it..

Side-mount license plate! Woo!

Thats the stock mounting for the lincense plate, and it might seem to be in the way...but it really isn't "blocking basically all of the air".

It just looks like it from that angle.

From looking at it, it doesn't seem like the plate hurts airflow to the IC at all. If anything , because of how low the IC is mounted, it will help it get more air. The flat surface of the plate is pushing air to all its edges, even downwards. This would cause a higher air pressure in front the IC, and the greater pressure differential would cause higher velocity airflow on the IC. To optimize, you could tilt the plate forward at the top, and have it push more air downard into the IC.

However, it's probably all very, very slightly benificial, and would likely see no significant gains. But, it's not hurting it.
