Painting Exhaust?

I picked up an exhaust system for my 86 NA for nothing. This is not a really high dollar thing but on the downpipe which has a pre silencer and high flow cat I can find the name Bonez. I can`t find anything to put a name on the mufflers or "y" pipe although It appears that they were purchased together. The mufflers and y pipe are pretty rusty on the surface, though they are very solid and have a lot of life left
( have been under a car for a couple of years). Is there any benefit to cleaning (ie sandblasting) the Y and mufflers and putting on some type of paint or some other type of coating. Does anyone have a recommendation on a paint that will not burn off the first time I start the car and heat everything up or should I just put them on ugly and all and not worry about how long they will last?

paint's not going to help you. Beat the rust off of it and keep it clean.

Well i know theirs high temp paint, and I know theirs rust stopping paint, but im unsure if there is a high temp rust stopping paint. Im just gonna go with the high temp paint. I wouldnt worry about surface rust much.

nobody can see that part of your exhaust anyway. The ony thing you can do is get SS components or Chrome or there is one type of powder paint that is high heat but it is stupid expensive.

I learned of them back when I was a American Muscule car owner :p

I was thinking of having them do my headers in the stage 2 stuff. I've only heard very good things about them from all the people I've talked to.

Any idea what jet hot might cost, their site was not up at 5AM East coast time. I don`t care about exact figures right now, just wondering.
Thanks for all the input everyone

It's like a hundred or two hundred dollers, I dont recall exactly :p
Also, dont buy the headers they sell for RX-7s, they're pacesetter (I checked that a couple years ago, so it might have changed) but send your own stuff in.
