Painting Carbon Fiber Hoods

BC Painting Carbon Fiber Hoods

Has anyone ever done this?, getting a CF hood and then painting it to match the car (going for sleeper style effect) has anyone done this is it possible? or will it cost an arm and a leg?

save your money! buy a fiberglass hood instead. they weigh about the same maybe like a pound off. the real reason people get CF hoods is to have that look. you can get a fiber glass hood off ebay for like 350 VS. 550.

oh but yes painting the CF one is possible, but i see it as pointless as stated in my pre post

Most "carbon fiber" hoods are just a fiberglass hood with a single top layer of CF for the look alone. If you get a fiberglass hood it'll weigh about the same and cost less.

the hoods being sold have a clear gelcoat finish, it would be same as spraying any other fiberglass hood.

they are not "REAL" carbon fiber, its just a look

if he's getting it for FREE!! then just keep it CF and buy some head light covers to match it and then become the howtness

yeah u can paint over cf. Prep it up to 1000 wetsand ,Youl need to spray sealer with the color closest to ur base coat , then the base color, then clear
