painted turbo... what you guys think??

im still in the process of my break-in (600 miles left!!!!) and put on a very nice S5 turbo. My S4 one had blown, along with my engine.... so i got the S5 the replace it. well, since my engine is painted so nicely (see sig below for picture) and my strutbar is also painted red to match, i figured i would paint the comp. housing of this dirty old turbo red and the wastgate actuator black to match my engine color theme.

heres a pic of the turbo after painting (we all know what they look like before....)

this picture was taken with a phone, so the red doesnt look as vibrant as it really is, but its the same color as my engine. so what do you guys think? a good 20 minutes spent?
i wish i had a picture of it installed, but i havent had time to snag one.

Paint the turbine housing black also if you haven't. I used 1200*F paint from Autozone and it's still holding up. That will give your turbo a nice "new" look.

i thought about painting the turbine housing, but i only had 500F black and red paint (which i used on the comp housing). the turbine housing was really clean to begin with so i wasnt that concerned. i way paint it when i go through my engine bay more next summer.

and there are quite a few people that i have seen paint their turbos, you just need to pay attention(look at aarons rebuild page)

also my FD alt just arrived today ill do some before and afters when i paint that later this week. its going to be red

Don't bother painting the turbine housing. It kind of holds up if you let it cure for a long time.

if anything get the turbine housing ceramic coated with the high temp black stuff. That way it will stay and it will hold in heat for better responce and less underhood temps

thats why i was considering, but is it REALLY going to make that much of a difference with jsut paint? i think not. but maybe with the heat wrap on the downpipe and a turbo blanket to cover the turbine housing. this is a DD though. so im really not THAT concerned with that extra tiny bit of response when im hardly going to notive it. if anything ill do it in 1500 degree red just to make it look pretty for a few days.. hahaha

Man, red looks nice, but I dont ever want to buy a red car if I can help it, because of the "increased insurance" and "cop magnet" bullshit.
