painted fmic question

does painting a front mount intercooler hurt the performance of the cooling at all?

yes, you could have it anodized or as a last resort use radiator paint but yes painting any core or fins reduces the cooling efficiency.

i read there was a black paint that actually improves heat transfer, but i forget what it's cailled. regardless, any paint probably wont make a huge difference either way.

its too minimal of a difference to notice or even greatly effect anything, just get some thin flat black paint and hit it at an angle so you mainly just paint the bars.

that would be my suggestion, a light coat over the face of the IC, the core and fins would still be exposed behind the surface so it would still cool about as efficiently.

yeah I wanted to paint it black so that the fmic would not be seen easily.

Does anyone know what kind of paint NOPR is talking about above?

I had mine painted and have noticed no difference in performance.
now I just have to paint the pipes coming out of the fog holes. kind of a give away
