paint stripper on engine parts? And chatter marks

So i got this S4 turbo engine block im going to rebuild. Looks rebuildable, waiting for my measuring tools to arrive to spec it but i need to clean everything first. The engine was painted green/silver. Hate it.

When i was little i used some paint stripper on a atv chassis and it worked amazing. Spray on the stripper then power washed it off a few minutes later.

Main questions as follow. Is it ok to use paint stripper on the plates and housings? Can it affect the plates and housings surface? Is it OK to power wash it off as long as i used a spraying tip and dont go point blank at it? Anyone have a better/easy method of removing paint off the plates, housings & front cover?

Last thing. My housings dont have major chipping on the edges, barely anything. BUT i do have chatter marks that i can see and feel I dont plan to make gobs of power.....MAYBE 300hp in a few years but certainly not anytime soon. Hope for it to last 40k minimum. Its already street ported and id like to keep these housings. Is it safe to use or already garbage? Thanks for all the input and advice. - Nick

Chatter marks are probably due to oil injection issues. That's what plagued the very first rotary engines: The seals were never lubricated and would not "flow" smoothly over the housing surfaces. If you can feel them, I'd say that's pretty bad

yeahhh the oil injectors were no good apon inspection today. I was going to plug them and premix anyways. I was really wishing i dont need plates or housings or its going to throw me over my budget. I will be getting a entire seal/gasket kit though. These chatter marks really **** me off. IF i cannot use them or need to send to goopy performance then i dont know when i'll actually be about to put this motor back together.

Still looking for more info/opinions on what i posted. Thanks guys

I would be afraid that paint stripper removes the chrome. The only thing I would touch that surface with is oil. But I am no pro. Just my novice opinion.

^I don't think paint thinner will chemically destroy chromium; one of 2 key element components of stainless steel.

I come to the conclusion that im going to have my housings resurfaced by Karack in a few weeks. There worth saving at a great price.

Im going to use paint stripper only on the plates. Mask the friction side, small wire wheel, spray alittle on at a time and wash off.

Just have to delay the full rebuild for a few more weeks. Thanks guys.
