Paint my GTU rims???

Im debating right now if i should paint my nasty gtu rims (on my dark grey GXL) flat black, would this look ghetto??? the rims are REALLY gross, bought the whole set for 50 bux w/tires, and they had been sitting for like 2 1/2 years, so they got pretty uhh not rusty, but more like corosiony? anyways they look sick so i have to change em soon. what do u guys think?????

If you are going to paint them, I would suggest using something glossy. First I would go over them with maybe a 400 grit sandpaper. Then either paint them or polish them. I painted my rims gunmetal and have two with the insides painted gunmetal. The paint was from Checkers. I shot two coats of gunmetal and three coats of clear.

Gunmetal...

Gunmetal rims up close...

Gunmetal on the insides, a little dirty from drifting...

slidinrx7 your rims look great. what type of paint did you use? man those are very nice. I never was a fan of the that style rim, but painted like that looks great. I've got the stock 86 Gxl rims. gunna swap them out for convert rims and lower my baby 2 in.

I got bored the other day and painted one of the wire mesh looking wheels that came on my 90 TII flat black. It looks good. But the paint isnt going to be durable enough so I think I'm gonna have em powdercoated flat black. Anyone know the size of those wheels? Their 16s but how wide are they?

Thanks...I'm trying to get the TII mesh rims now. The paint I used is Dupli Color High Performance Wheel Coating, there's a silver six spoke rim on the can. You probably don't need to put as much coats as I did, but I wanted to ensure a good gloss. I just did it because I didn't have money for new rims and I was bored.
