Question Is Pacesetter Crap?

I've got an 89 GTUs N/A. I am about to put a Monza Pacesetter Cat-back on it. Does anyone have one and know what its like? Mike, The owner of my local spped shop said the company really got its **** in order and it good stuff now! I order in 7 days, no mistakes. BTW should i cut out the cat or put in high flows?

I had an 89 gtu and I put the pace setter header and catback on with no cat!!!!, First off one of the stud for my exhaust mainfold striped out because the flange on the pacesetter header is too thin, then my pacesetter mufflers where burnt up in 2 months sounded like ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT NOT BUY PACE SETTER WHATEVER YOU DOOO

you might as well make your own from some piping at Home Depot. JC Whitney is so embarassed of them they dont even put there name brand under the cat backs or headers in their catalog, they just call it universal cat back, and universal header for ur car, heh.

I have a buddy (hey Jamie) who has a Pacesetter header, custom pipe to 2 Dynomax mufflers. He has run it for several years now and he says he like it. I personally decided to get a Racing Beat unit because they are so reputable.

I have the pacesetter cat-back. I got it used back when I was poor (well, poorer than now, but Im still poor ). I think it is very nice, not the best, but good. It sounds low and throaty, very nice tone I think. Ive had it on for about a year and the majority of the paint is still intact, and looks good. The only place that it burnt off is the y-pipe. All in all for getting it for < $100, Im very happy. If I was buying a system new, I would spend a little extra on something higher quality, but if you can get it cheap I say go for it. There is someone trying to sell a cat-back in the 4sale section now, I think its a good deal for someone who need a cheap aftermarket cat-back. I also have heard that they changed the designs of the products in the last couple years. They are not as shitty now.

Well I would normally say DON'T DO IT!!!!!! (I purchased the header and return it the same day, that was 5 years ago); However I received the new Victoria British Catalog and their new header looks good (in paper that is), its a straight thru with a colector that bolts in right at the end (where it meets the cata converter).

my .02 cents!

Right! Have you seen a RB header? Did you measure the lenght of both tubes on the pacesetter header? Did yours had a mounting for the O2? or was it welded in a muffler shop? Did you saw the thicness of the pacesetter tubes? and the list keeps going!

Things that makes you go Hmmmm..........

well i must agree with some people i am the guy that rico says tha have it and i like the header only because it was free i had to make the o2 senso plug in for it but like i said it was free and u cant beat that

on a side note i am about to get a brand new RB header on my system that i am also getting for free
well 25$ i found some back seats for the rx7 at a local junkyard. i didnt want them and this guy i know wants them so he is giving me the header and a electric impact gun
(not a bad deal)

I bought some pacesetter headers and they work fine. The first day I had them I thought they were the biggest pos part ever cas they sounded bad and was red hot. But they work fine now, sure RB IS better and Ill probably buy those some time but anything is better than the "thermal reactor".

PS- My headers came with a spot for the O2 sensor.

The best part is that Pace Setter is used by Ferrari as its performance division.

all you people are so dense i swear! have you seen the prices on the RB ****. hell if you can even get them in stock without waiting 5 months!

most you people have never run pacesetter and still call it junk! all ******* sheep!!

if money was no object i would surely take the racing beat ones, but for most people with rx-7s it IS an object, and used pacesetters are a hell of a deal when you can get em. i had mine on for 2 winters seasons and drove the car right through ice, sleet, everything! they didnt rust or fall apart.

i do not know about the bung for the o2, but mine was on it when i bought them used.

if you do not use genuine mazda gaskets, they WILL leak and sound like ****. if you get the good gaskets for 6 bucks a piece, they make the car sound AWESOME!

i would never buy a pacesetter catback though! those are crap. the headers i recieved looks very well constructed.

just my .02 i hate it when people dog stuff they have never tried. i know tons of people that have had bad service with racing beat.

Well when I bought my pacesetter in 1995, I payed NOPI $175 for the header, a day later (after I returned the Pacesetter) I ordered the RB header from Mazdatrix for something close to $225. It is not that big of difference when you campare the quality, which I did back in 1995.

As I said, the new pacesetter look good on paper, but then again you can get a RB header nowdays for $187!
