I can tell you that my car is as fast as a 1988 10th which had a rebuilt engine, 10k miles on motor. I test drove this 10th over the summer. It was damn close to mine.

Well, I'm the second owner and the previous owner was my step-dad's best friend. I was actually in the car when he test drove it brand new. I don't remember too much about the test drive though, seeing as how I was only 9 at the time. I do remember it seemed fast.

And usually, if an engine is broken in properly, you can squeeze more performance out of them when they're a bit older. But at a point, performance will detiorate as the engine reaches the end of its life.

My first FC, bought brand new with about 27 miles on it.

I sold it with about 130K on it. Ran as good the day I bought it as the day I sold it.

I also have a 88 GTU that my dad bought new after driving my Sport. It has about 53K miles on it. Little heavier car but still runs fine.

i took those pics at a NJ BBQ this summer...he was promoting this wax that he uses...i lost the pamphlet, but i'm sure someone else that was there remembers the exact name. its some airplane wax thats really strong. i could be wrong, but i remember him saying that it strips away a layer of clear coat (maybe to erase some dullness).

he was selling a 20oz bottle and he said that would last a lifetime, since you really only need to do the **** once in a while.

as for the rims...i'm not sure exactly what model...but they are Koenigs for sheeezy, 18's.......
