Exclamation Overheating Transmission????

I've been driving for about a week on my new TII swap. I was having problems with my clutch slipping so I went ahead and had a mechanic swap in a TII drivetrain I've had for a while, 12lb ACT flywheel with counter weight, new clutch, and pressure plate.

I don't have the time to do this myself so I took it to a mechanic and told them I wanted the drivetrain swapped out and the transmission serviced because it had been sitting for awhile. He quoted me $320 and I paid $320. My old tranny mounts where bad so he didn't put them back in.

When I got the car back I had a check engine light and I smelt burnt clutch a lot the first three days. I adjusted the clutch pedal and it went away. I noticed that the shifter boot was much much warmer than it had been before the swap but just thought that he didn't put the insulation back in and thought nothing of it.

While under the car on Saturday I noticed that the ground that connects to the long bolt that holds the starter on was hanging there.

Today while driving the shifter boot and ash tray have gotten very very very hot. The change in the ash tray almost burns me and the check engine light turned off. The thing that is really pissing me off is that the clutch is slipping again. Badly. After paying this bastard $320 to do this work and have it crap out on me so soon really pisses me off. I've invested a lot of money in these parts and if they go bad there is gonna be hell to pay.

I've gotten new transmission mounts in yesterday so tomorrow morning I am going down to the mechanic to have it out with him. I want to be as ready as possible. I'm making him install the new transmission mounts for $30 like he quoted me but I'm going to monitor his work the entire time and make him fix the grounds and figure this out.

Do you think that he didn't service the transmission so its running with no grease in the transmission? Is this why its so damn hot? I really just wanna know why every clutch I put in this car fails so quickly.

Thanks,
Mason

*cliff notes* Would a overheating transmission cause a slipping clutch? Why is my transmission overheating?

IF infact there was no oil in the tranny, then you would prolly have had alot of trouble trying to select gears, and after a lil bit of driving you woulda heard the gears grinding, and most likely woulda lost your transmission...

maybe its just low on transmission fluid

not having enough tranny fluid would most definately make it run hotter

I would check into this ASAP before driving any more at all as a tranny would suck to lose

redline all the way!

reread a little more, sounds like he fucked you major. sucks

but that insulation makes a HUGE difference, trust me without it and the boots and stuff you will have tons of heat coming up through the shifter

there is i think 2 furry mats, 3 boots, and then a metal plate. i think thats it?
