Overheating questions

when our cars are overheated, what is usually the first thing to give out?? i think my car is running on the hot side but im not sure, all i have is my stock guage right now but it seems to creep up once in a while. i was wondering what i could do to keep this from happening. thanks -alex

As a result of overheating the first thing to give out will be your engine water seals. Bad water seals = engine rebuild. By all means, if it is running hot, don't drive it until you fix it. Just check all the basics in your cooling system. Number one should be your thermostat. If it hasn't been replaced for a while, then replace it; make sure you use a mazdo oem thermostat, not some generic crap. If that doesn't help, examine all the other components: water pump, radiator, fluid level...ext.
