overheating?

overheating?

had the coolant buzzer go off a few times last night so i changed it this morning.i let the car idle for 20min and the temp gauge didnt really budge. now, when i drive the car for about 10-20 min i starts to lean towards 210 on the temp Gauge(and the coolant buzzer does not go off). its an 88 turbo . there is no white smoke coming from the exhaust, no power loss , and i may put too much coolant in because the overflow tank is near the top. i also changed the oil recently. im not too good with cars so i really need help. i just hope its not a coolant seal problem. could it be the thermostat or does the whole coolant system need to be overhauled?

To summarize, either you have a clogged rad, or you are missing the underbelly pan. The latter is very easy to figure out.

okay! i went to check my T-stat to see if it was working. i take off the whole filler neck to find that it had no T-Stat!!!! would this cause the car to overheat and have the coolant buzzer go off? luckly i have a replacment and im going to put it on right now. hope everything works! ^^

changed what? the sensor? which one?

either way if you have drained the coolant (even partially) to change the sensor and then topped it back up.....you might just have an airlock

I would make sure that you have no air in the coolant system.......

^ agreed, make sure you open the bleed screw while adding coolant also
