its about that 89 TII Ive been checking out. the thing is that Im pretty sure that it has no coolant!! we are suposed to put coolant on the metal cap in the front of the car right? but it goes to that bottle a bit to the left right? well that bottle is dry empty (I think there might be a little little bit of coolant fluid on the bottom but it's not much really).. so my guess is that the engine was overheated, cause I read somewhere that when that happens there are mysterious coolant fluid losses.
and the car is really hard to start the first time!! I remembered that it might had coolant fluid in it..
what can I do to check out if it is messed up or not? fill it with coolant to the top then start it? if it bubles or does gueiser efect its cause its messed up right?

if it is messed up:
is it to hard or expencive to rebuild the engine by my self?? (any place that explains how to?)
is it worth it, if I can buy the car for a low price stating that it is all messed up ?
I really like that car...
I can go and check it out this afternoon so any replies would be nice

figure the engine will need replacing, and Atkins racing sells a VHS video on how to rebuild the engine, but I have always found the Factory Service manual (available online- just check the FAQ for FC thread at the top of this section) also to be just fine.

it works!! Ive reved it and it seems fine (I did keep an eye on the heat, and it was pretty much normal)

 

Mine isn't a turbo. but i an trying to figure out cooling problems that i didn't know existed when I bought the car. I say, if in doubt, dont buy it. i am finding out that if an rx7 is over heated it takes way more then you think just to get it drivable.

 

I don't understand one thing...
Ive been to the stand, and I opened that metal cap and trew liquid in it until it was full (I had a 1.5litter bottle and it didn't take the whole bottle to fill it up :\ )..
started the car reved it a bit and the water was stand still didn't even move, no bubbles or anything. but theres another BUT, on the metal cap it says check level on the bottle (or sumthing like that), well the bottle was dry even after the other line was full of liquid!! aren't the two things related? or istn't the water pump working ?!?! HELP !!!

 

That's the overflow container, it sucks water in from there, or pushes it out into there when it gets too hot. You fill it through the metal cap, let it idle, put the cap back on, then it should suck up whatever more it needs from the plastic bottle.

 

but when I put water trought the metal cap, it goes directelly to the overflow container? cause I filled that tube with the metal cap to the top and the overflow container was still dry!! :| is that normal ? or do I have to leave the car idleing for a while to let it suck the water or sumthing ?

Fill to the top of the radiator cap. Then fill like halfway to 3/4 on the overflow container and you should be cool. Unless you have a blown coolant seal that will eat yo coolant like a ****!
