Overheated T2 for $1000,Worth it?
Overheated T2 for $1000,Worth it?
I saw a 87 t2 for a $1000, the guy says that it overheated but that it still runs. Is this worth buying? What could go wrong with it since it overheated? I WANT A T2 DAMNIT. Oh by the way The Presidents speech tonight was great, if you didn't get a chance to see or hear it. All Terrorists beware, we will prevail.
kwiknez,
I think either way it's a good deal. If the engine's blown, it will be cheaper than bluebook to replace it. If the engine good and just a few things need fixing, that's even better.
How's the rest of the car including interior, exterior, underneath, suspension, engine bay, spare tire & jack compartments, hatch, rubber seals on the hatch, doors, molding around the doors, accessories/electronics, etc..?
A few pics to get you in the mood

Yes its a good deal if you want to tinker a little. If you adverse to having to make the car work and want a turn key, Email me his name, where he is and number and I'll buy it from him.

Thanks for all the pictures, that made me even more stoked on buying one. I am going to call this guy tomorrow, to go and look at it then. Here hoping that the guy is an idiot, and there isn't much wrong with it. Thanks again.

If it's overheated you'll need a new engine, due to the expansion qualities of the rotor housings and side housings. Basically, it'll warp the engine itself. However, you can get a J-Spec engine at www.corksport.com and do the swap yourself all for the grand sum of $1000 plus minor work (I recommend tearing down a J-Spec engine to make sure everything is in spec too)
Good Luck!
P.S Great pics of the '7s...makes me even more glad to own one!

Congrats! Welcome to the Boosted club, but yeah, if its overheated, its going to be needed to be rebuilt or replaced. I have owned a ton on NA RX-7's...& the only thing missing was MORE POWER! Good luck!
