Overheated, need advice.

I have owned my car for almost a year and have driven it very hard over the time I have had it. I just recently put a true dual header and dual pipes back to a single muffler. I also recently did the fenderwell CAI intake mod.

Yesterday I took my car for a run through the mountains and it was fine. I rolled into town and was on my way home when I saw a friend that has wanted to race me forever so I was going to. I redlined it a little getting onto the freeway and then we were gonna line up when I noticed my temp was spiking in the hot. I pulled over right away and let it cool down then put some water in it and drove it home. Well it overheated again on the drive home and I was being very gentle with it.

Today I got my coolant flushed and pressure tested the radiator and everything was fine. I drove it home from the rad. shop and it wanted to overheat again. I wasn't driving hard, and I had to turn the heater on full to get the temp back down. My quetion is what the hell is causing this. Sorry for the long post just wanted to put all the info you might need out here. Thanks.

Not leaking any fluid, no bubbles, waterpump seems to be fine, but I don't really know how to test it. I will check the thermostat. Could it be a combination of having no front air dam and using the new true dual header I got? My car has never had any inclination that it wanted to overheat before I put the header on. Thanks for the responses.

I believe there is a weep hole behind or below the waterpump-- check to see if coolant has come out of there. Also check for dried coolant around that area. If there is signs of coolant then that means the waterpump is bad.

Im assuming by pressure testing the rad you verified that you dont have bad coolant seals? Do you have at any time a drop in coolant level? Does your exhaust smell sweet on startup?

Replace your t-stat and see if that solves the problem. Id also check, and double check that you dont have any air bubbles when filling it back up with coolant. I doubt true duals would cause the car to want to overheat.

Well today I noticed I am leaking fluid. it is coming from my oil cooler lines. I can't tell if from the in or out line but they are both oily. This could cause my engine to overheat when driving up hills huh. I did notice my oil pressure kinda fluctuating more than it normally does yesterday too. How much is this gonna cost me?

Coolant shouldn't be in your oil cooler lines. Oil should be in them.

If they're leaking replace them. They're kind of a pain in the *** to replace, but well worth it. Mazdatrix sells a set, stainless steel braided, too.

Like the other guys said, check your thermostat, and check to see if you have any air in your cooling system.

How's your radiator? See if it's plugged anywhere. You can tell by feeling a cold spot somewhere on it. If there's coolant flowing through it the whole thing should be warm to the touch. If there's a cold spot, obviously fluid isn't flowing through there...

Well I never said there was coolant in my oil lines. There is oil leaking out. I am 80% sure that the lines are the problem, not to mention the oil cooler was kinda clogged with oil and dirt so I cleaned it out. Thanks.
