Exclamation overheat exhaust

i recently put 93 octane gas in my 88 gtu for the first time since i've had it and it ran fine. i got home and washed it. when i got ready to start it to back out of the yard it would barely start. and even after it did it wouldn't idle. later my boyfriend and i discovered that after it had been on for only 2 or 3 minutes the cat was glowing red hot. a friend of ours who has a 240sx said the same thing happened to his car after using 93. i was wondering if this could be the problem or is it the timing is off or both?

Help

Kris

You have a N/A car, you shouldn't be running 93 Octane through it. You should run 87 Octane.

The glowing cat, would lead me to believe, that the cat is clogged. Get a pipe to replace, or get a new cat.

Higher octane in an NA is a waste. There are zero benefits, even in theory. Slower burn means more deposits, lower power and more $. Anyway, this is in no way related to the problem with the car. The cat is probably clogged, happens all the time. Try a bonez as a cost effective replacement or get a test pipe.
