over heats

this morning i was driving the temp normal (1/4 mark) i drove for like 15 mins i look down the temp still normal. i kept driving for like 30 secs and i look down and the temp is all the way high. When i got out of work I refilled the rad and tried to turn on the car but it dosent start, i know its not flooded, and I know the fuel pump works, and i just changed the pulgs like 2 weeks ago. do u think i might need new plugs again? and does any one know why the part in red happened? (rad, seals, etc)
thanks

fill it up with coolant rad cap off. Crank it if coolant blows out while cranking time for a rebuild.

Yeah it only takes 30 seconds for the engine to heat up like that if it's already warm.... (280 degrees warm)

I've always been amazed at how the cooling process works so well when the engine is capable of producing so much heat.

At those temps I'd suspect some damage to the coolant seals. If they weren't damaged before they were sure to be stressed by that. Don't want to jump to conclusions though so definately try looking into the thermostat and water pump. You say the car wont start now, if the plugs are new I'd say you should be able to just pull them and clean them up a bit and reuse them. I pretty much went through the same thing with my FD so the motor is out of it right now waiting for me to rebuild it.
